Seven Deadly Sins Origin is finally here! If you're just getting started and wondering which characters are actually worth pulling for, you're in the right place. This tier list breaks down every unit available at launch, from the ones you absolutely want to the ones you can skip for now.
Quick note: Two changes happened since the beta. Slater got moved from a free SSR to an SR, and Daisy was removed entirely. Keep that in mind, as things may shift a little.

7DS Origin Tier List
SS Tier
B Tier
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| SS | Meliodas |
| S | Jericho, Diane, Mannie |
| A | Elaine, King, Guila, Tristan, Bug |
| B | Tioreh, Drake, Gilthunder, Slater, Hendrickson, Howzer |
| C | Dredrin, Dreyfus, Griamore |
Before jumping into each tier, you need to understand the Darkness Burst mechanic. As you attack enemies, a bar fills up. Once it's full, units of that element get a huge damage boost. A lot of what makes a character good in this game comes down to how well they build that bar or take advantage of it when it's active.
SS Tier — Broken, Must-Have
Meliodas

Meliodas was already powerful during the beta, but the buffs he received at global launch pushed him to a whole new level. He performs well across all three weapon types and fits into almost any team, mainly thanks to his darkness element.
For early progression, dual swords are the best option. They offer steady damage along with self-healing, which helps keep the entire team alive since HP is shared. As you move into the endgame, the longsword becomes the better choice for higher damage output, although it requires cleaner play and leaves less room for mistakes. The axe is generally the weakest of the three, but it can still hit very hard when used with the right build.
In the late game, Meliodas scales even further. With SSR gear and unique weapons like his event longsword, he gains extra boosts that enhance his overall performance.
What truly makes him stand out is his ability to corrupt elemental bursts, a key mechanic in most team setups. Building around elemental burst and corruption while investing heavily in Meliodas allows for fast and efficient story progression.
S Tier — Best of the Rest
Jericho

Jericho stands out as one of the strongest characters in the game, especially when it comes to frost burst. She fits into almost any team setup, but her synergy with Meliodas is where she truly shines. With her SSR gear, elemental bursts can be triggered within seconds, setting up Meliodas to follow through with combos that can wipe out enemies almost instantly.
She also speeds up burst gauge generation, giving the entire team more opportunities to deal damage. Her playstyle feels smooth and aggressive, while still being easy to build around.
Diane

Diane is another top-tier damage dealer who can take on two different roles depending on her weapon choice. When using gauntlets, she focuses on dealing heavy damage. With nunchucks, she transitions into a support role, where consistent hits grant her a shield and ongoing healing, making her very dependable in tougher fights. She can also be used as a safety option, by swapping her in to activate her shield, then switching back to another character.
With the right setup, Diane can also act as an earth burst damage dealer, especially when paired with King. A typical endgame lineup includes Jericho for frost burst, Diane for durability, Mannie for buffs, and Meliodas to corrupt the burst and finish enemies quickly.
Mannie

Mannie is an excellent support who fits into almost every team because her buffs aren't locked to one element. Here's what she brings:
- Increases critical damage for the whole team
- Boosts alt ability damage
- Reduces enemy defense for all elements
- Resets skill cooldowns for your entire team
That last one is huge in longer fights like raids. Think of her as the game's universal buffer, she just makes everyone better.
A Tier — Strong Units Worth Using
Elaine

Elaine is a powerful damage dealer with strong crit scaling. Her team requires high investment to shine, but when properly built she's a genuine threat. She also contributes to burst gauge generation and gives damage reduction to help your team survive tough fights.
King

King is the best buffer for earth teams and has potential in light builds as well. When fully stacked he provides a massive attack buff for earth units and boosts earth elemental damage across the board. If you're building an earth team around Diane, King is basically a must-have.
Guila

Guila is a strong fire DPS who can carry you through early and mid-game, especially with her rapier build. She increases fire damage taken by enemies and works as a sub DPS. Once better fire units arrive in future updates, she has the potential to move up even further.
Bug

Bug is a budget alternative to Meliodas who can replicate some burst corruption mechanics. He requires heavy investment and isn't as strong overall, but his transformation ability is useful for exploration and gives him a niche even at high levels.
Tristan

Tristan is a solid character who buffs teams and fits well into multiple compositions. He has decent fire buffs and helps with burst efficiency. He's a reliable pick even as the roster grows.
B Tier — Decent, But Not Priority Pulls
Drake

Drake is a solid lightning sub DPS. His kit is good, but the lightning team as a whole is more niche and harder to build, requiring specific synergy and multiple characters from summons, which makes it less accessible.
Tioreh

Tioreh is a good support option, especially for beginners, thanks to her healing abilities. She allows safer gameplay when you're learning boss mechanics and won't carry you on her own, but she keeps your team alive.
Gilthunder

Gilthunder is part of the lightning team alongside Drake. The same limitations apply, the team requires heavy investment and isn't easy to put together, making him a lower priority at launch.
Slater

Slater is decent but outclassed by stronger fire characters like Guila and Tristan. He's usable in a pinch but not worth prioritizing over the top fire options.
Hendrickson

Hendrickson offers some dark team buffing and healing support. He's not flashy, but he's reliable enough to slot in if you need a third option for a dark team composition.
Howzer

Howzer is a fun ranged DPS option with some decent utility. He's not a top priority, but he's reliable enough to slot into your roster while you're still building out your main teams.
C Tier — Situational at Best

Dredrin has a niche use case but isn't a priority for most players. The teams and synergies that would make him shine simply aren't strong enough in the current meta.
Dreyfus is in a similar boat, not without uses, but generally not worth building around at launch.
Griamore is interesting on paper with some burst gauge building and magic point restoration on burst activation. It's a niche kit, and there might be specific setups where he works, but for now, he's mostly a placeholder.
This tier list will change as new characters get added, but for launch, this is the best general view. Good luck out there, and enjoy the raids!
