The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin uses a pity system across its different gacha banners, but it works differently than most gacha games you might be used to. Instead of giving you a guaranteed featured character after a certain number of pulls, the game uses a bonus system that only increases your odds. Here's a complete breakdown of how pity works in 7DS: Origin so you can plan your pulls wisely.
What is Pity in Gacha Games?
If you're new to gacha games, "pity" is a safety system that helps unlucky players. Think of it like this: after you pull a certain number of times without getting what you want, the game steps in to help you out. Most gacha games will guarantee you a high-rarity character or item after hitting a specific pull count.
In The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, pity works a bit differently depending on which banner you're pulling from. Some banners give you actual guarantees, while others only boost your chances. Let's break down each banner type.
Pick Up Banner Pity (Limited Characters)
The Pick Up banner is where limited heroes appear for a short time. This is usually where you'll want to spend your tickets if you're chasing a specific character. However, the pity system here has a twist that might surprise you.
80 Pulls = Guaranteed SSR (But Not Featured)
After 80 pulls on the Pick Up banner, you're guaranteed to get one SSR hero. Sounds great, right? Here's the catch: this SSR can be ANY hero from the banner pool. It's not necessarily the featured limited character you're pulling for. So if you hit 80 pulls, you might get the limited hero, or you might get a different SSR entirely. It's completely random among all SSR heroes available on that banner.
120 Pulls = Pick Up Hero Bonus (Doubled Rate)
At 120 pulls, something different happens. Instead of getting a guaranteed featured hero, you activate the "Pick Up Hero Bonus." This doubles the pull rate for the limited character.
What does this mean in practice? If the featured hero normally has a 1% chance per pull, it becomes 2% after you hit 120 pulls. Your odds improve, but you're still not guaranteed to get them. You could keep pulling past 120 and still not get the featured character if you're unlucky enough.
This is very different from other gacha games like Arknights Endfield, where 120 pulls usually guarantee the featured character. In 7DS: Origin, 120 pulls only make it more likely, not certain.
Important: Pity Resets When Banner Ends
Here's something important to know: all your progress on the Pick Up banner resets to zero when that banner ends. If you do 100 pulls on one limited banner and don't get the featured hero, those 100 pulls don't carry over to the next limited banner. You start from scratch. This makes it risky to pull unless you have enough tickets to reach at least the 80-pull mark for that guaranteed SSR.
New Encounters Banner Pity (Permanent Standard Banner)
The New Encounters banner is the permanent standard banner that's always available. It doesn't feature limited heroes.
80 Pulls = Guaranteed SSR
Just like the Pick Up banner, you get a guaranteed SSR hero after 80 pulls. This SSR will be from the standard pool of characters. Limited heroes from Pick Up banners are not included here.
Pulls Don't Count Across Banners
This is important: pulls on the Pick Up banner don't count toward New Encounters pity, and vice versa. Each banner tracks its own separate pull count. So if you do 50 pulls on Pick Up and 50 pulls on New Encounters, you haven't reached the 80-pull pity on either banner. You'd need 80 consecutive pulls on the same banner type to trigger the guarantee.
Exclusive Skin Banner Pity (Hero and Weapon Skins)
The Exclusive Skin banner works completely differently from the hero banners. This is where you pull for skins for your characters and weapons.
Draw-to-Clear System
The Exclusive Skin banner uses something called a "Draw-to-Clear" system. Here's how it works:
Each banner has exactly 10 items in the reward pool:
- 1 Top Tier weapon skin
- 1 Premium hero skin
- 8 Normal rewards
Every item can only be pulled once. Once you get an item, it's removed from the pool and can't appear again. This means you're guaranteed to get all 10 items if you do 10 pulls on the banner.
Top Tier Weapon Skin (Starts at Pull 5)
The Top Tier weapon skin has a special rule. It won't drop at all during your first 4 pulls. Starting from pull 5, it has a chance to appear. If you haven't gotten it by pull 9, you'll definitely get it on pull 10 since it's one of the two remaining items.
Premium Hero Skin (Guaranteed by Pull 10)
The Premium hero skin works the same way as other items. You'll definitely have it by the time you complete all 10 pulls, but it could show up anywhere from pull 1 to pull 10.

Is There Soft Pity in 7DS: Origin?
No, there is no soft pity in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. Many gacha games have "soft pity" where your odds gradually increase after a certain number of pulls. For example, your chance might go from 1% to 2% to 3% as you get closer to hard pity. 7DS: Origin doesn't work this way. Your pull rates stay exactly the same from pull 1 all the way to pull 119. Only at pull 120 does anything change, and even then it's just a rate doubling, not a gradual increase.
The pity system in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin requires careful planning because it's less forgiving than other games. Since pity doesn't carry over and 120 pulls only doubles your rate instead of guaranteeing the hero, you need to be prepared for disappointment.
If you're free-to-play, we recommend being very selective about which banners you pull on. Wait for a limited character you absolutely love, save up a large amount of tickets, and be prepared to commit fully to that banner.
